—Taken from a Skinnys review (below)

NEW Skinnys Tubes Crew Socks:

  • Our stylish mid-calf crew sock
  • Ribbed calf tube with grey color bands
  • 4x heel-wall thickness to fill air gaps
  • Orthotic-grade TerryWrapTM cotton padding around side and rear heel walls

Elevate your kicks in comfort.

Skinnys Tubes mega-thick crew socks are custom-designed to ease the rubbing, slipping, and heel blistering in the back of our feet, especially for people with narrow heels.

If you've got an air gap around your heel causing you to blister or pop out of shoes, these stylish mid-calf crew socks—with extra-thick heel cushioning, achilles protection, and arch support—will be just the trick.

The secret: a 4x-padded heel counter + TerryWrapTM orthotic-grade cotton heel padding (up to 4x thicker heels than other brands) for the best shoe fit ever.

Skinnys Tubes Crew Socks feature a ribbed mid-calf contour to stay up and look great in any kind of sneaker, slip-on shoe, or Crocs.

How to Wear

Wear these stylish padded crew socks while walking, working, or competing on a sports field, and say goodbye to heel rubbing for good.

They're especially great for heel-impact athletic activities like lacrosse, rugby, soccer, and running.

Features

  • Premium combed cotton extra-padded in the heels, designed for soft comfort and maximum durability (even after many washes)
  • Stylish tube ribbing with color bands to elevate your Vans or favorite kicks
  • TerryWrap™ orthotic-grade looped cotton terry-cloth padding that wraps around all heel sides (and up past the achilles tendon) to provide extra padding where you need it most
  • Ribbed arch weaving to provide additional support in the midfoot for high arches

Sizing

Note: Skinnys will fit different foot-shapes differently. Our cushioned crew socks are cut slightly narrower in the heel than typical store-bought socks. For people on the edge between sizes, if you have narrower feet, we recommend following the guidelines as listed. If you have wider feet, you might consider selecting the next larger size of Skinnys if your feet are within a half-size of the top of the guideline ranges.

All sizes are US sizes:

  • Small/Medium: Mens up-to 8½ / Womens 4 ‒ 9½
  • Large/Extra-Large: Mens 9 ‒ 14 / Womens 13+

  • Wash cold. Air dry / fluff cycle recommended

How to find socks with actual heel padding —  Hint: You have to turn them inside out

Most so-called "padded socks" on the market usually provide too much thickness in the areas you don't need it (toe box and sole) and annoyingly underpad the outer heel walls.

A big secret: the only way to learn how a sock is structured is to turn it inside out.

What are “specialty socks” and why are they more expensive?

One question we're sometimes asked is why Skinnys cost what they do, when generic socks can be had for a few bucks a pair.

It really comes down to what it takes to produce Skinnys and the fact that they're manufactured in more limited quantities.

They're a little pricier, but you won't find this type of product anywhere else.

Why do shoes slip at the heel?

Simply put, most shoe manufacturers design their shoes for "average" heels, even though around 25% of us would benefit from a slimmer-designed heel cup.

For those of us in the narrower group, off-the-shelf shoes often have heel cups that just have too much space—too much air—leaving a gap between the shoe and our heel. For non-padded shoes (dress shoes, loafers, boat shoes, etc.), there's even less room for error. And so our shoes slip off our feet.

Will extra-thick no-show socks tighten my shoe fit?

Why are all no-show socks paper thin, and could they be used to make loose shoes fit a bit tighter?

For those of us who need a tighter shoe fit—because we blister in our heels or because our feet pop up or slip out of our shoes—thin socks simply won't cut it.

We need the most padded no-show socks we can find, especially in the heel area!
